Spitzer Center Introduces Free Discovery Sessions

There’s a saying that pertains equally to companies large and small, as well as not-for-profit and religious organizations: “Culture eats strategy for breakfast.”  You can have a brilliant strategy, smart people, and ample resources, but if your culture is dominated by private agendas and conflict, you won’t be successful.

If you want a clearer view of how your organization is managing its culture, the Spitzer Center for Ethical Leadership has a new, free service to help you get started.  The Center is now offering Discovery Sessions to help you assess cultural health through the lens of the Four Levels of Happiness®

“In a Discovery Session, we’ll sit down with you and your leadership team and conduct an interview using a tool called the Spitzer Organizational Success Index,” says Jim Berlucchi, the Center’s executive director. “The goal is help you clarify the sort of culture you want, and to see where you stand with regard to achieving that culture.”

The success index covers four criteria that are essential to achieving and maintaining a healthy culture.

  • Is the organization motivated to make culture and values a priority? Is there a willingness to set measurable goals?
  • Is there a top-down plan that defines where the organization is with regard to its culture, where it wants to be, and how it intends to get there?
  • Is there bottom-up training and education, so that employees know what the organization is trying to achieve and their role in achieving it?
  • Is there an ongoing process and the resources necessary to ensure long-term commitment to cultural goals?

The Discovery Session takes just 45 minutes and can be done face-to-face or by teleconference. The end result is a report prepared by the Spitzer Center reflecting your feedback and identifying any gaps in your current plans or processes.

“The interview in itself has take-away value," says Berlucchi.  “It offers useful insights on the status of your culture, and it shows how you how to apply the Four Levels in a practical way.”

If you request a Discovery Session, there’s no pressure for any further interaction with Spitzer Center. “We have services that can help leaders build a flourishing Level 3 culture, but we don’t use these sessions as a platform to sell our services,” says Berlucchi. “We’ll answer any questions you might have, but it’s up to leaders to review the results and then decide if the Four-Level model and the Center’s programs are right for them.”

If you’d like to schedule a Discovery Session, you can request one via an email to info@spitzercenter.org or by calling the Center at 734-677-7770.
